So besides the fact that we're uninformed initially on how to diet and/or the need to lose weight with so much misinformation floating around - as anyone who has tried to lose weight knows, healthy eating and exercise is hard work.
To minimize pain and suffering, we listen to promises to avoid the hard work that takes time - and can't be accomplished in a day or a few days.
So.. that's why many people turn to fad diets that promise quick weight loss, but even when a fad diet delivers, the people who lose weight this way, rarely keep it off - because we haven't learned healthy practices and behavior.

Dieting and taking off unhealthy weight, which often requires a lifestyle change, is hard work.
