So - why do we turn to fad dieting and DON'T adhere to healthy eating and simply burn off more calories than we take in?
First of all - there so many people pretending to be experts these days - pushing quick-fix fad diets and claims to help take off unwanted and unhealthy weight easily and quickly; yet few are nutritionists or dietitians with actual knowledge of dieting or healthy eating.
So besides the fact that we're uninformed initially on how to diet and/or the need to lose weight with so much misinformation floating around - as anyone who has tried to lose weight knows, healthy eating and exercise is hard work.
To minimize pain and suffering, we listen to promises to avoid the hard work that takes time - and can't be accomplished in a day or a few days.
So.. that's why many people turn to fad diets that promise quick weight loss, but even when a fad diet delivers, the people who lose weight this way, rarely keep it off - because we haven't learned healthy practices and behavior.
Meanwhile, dietitians and nutritionists continue to advise us that to lose weight, we need to eat less and exercise more. They don't offer a magic bullet.
Dieting and taking off unhealthy weight, which often requires a lifestyle change, is hard work.
